Wild Service Festival Exhibition – O Barc Odes From The Edgerhow
Poet and artist Briony Spandler has created an innovative visual poem, from observations made of a single hedgerow and its entanglement with litter. Weds – Sat 10am – 4pm, 11 – 31 Oct 2025.
A roam in the Leeds countryside led poet and artist, Briony Spandler, to create this innovative visual poem, from observations made of a single hedgerow and its entanglement with litter.
Exhibited as a series of gicleé prints, the poem features visually manipulated bar codes to illustrate the impact of single-use pollution on nature.
Modernist odes take audiences on a seasonal journey with the edgerhow, in the hope of encouraging them to foster a more sustainable relationship with nature, consider the impact of consumerism, and take action.
O Barc Odes From The Edgerhow is an act of wild service, a labour of love, sorrow, hope and commitment.
The Exhibition is open Weds – Sat 10am – 4pm, Sat 11 Oct – Fri 31 Oct 2025. FREE.
Part of the Wild Service Festival a combination of free and paid events encompassing visual poetry, music, spoken word, talks, and workshops, the Wild Service Festival during October 2025 celebrates the creative and practical ways we can simultaneously reconnect with and become better guardians of nature, while improving our well-being through the power of participation.
Britain ranks last in Europe on biodiversity, wellbeing, and nature connectedness. Nature is suffering, and so are we. ‘Wild Service’ – the visionary concept and book crafted by the Right to Roam campaign – argues that humanity’s loss and nature’s need are two sides of the same story. It calls for mass reconnection to the land and a commitment to its restoration.
