Make an Impact

A Sustainable Fashion Week Exhibition at SCRAP featuring Leeds City College 16-19 Fashion and Textiles, Wed 24th September to Sat 27th September 10am to 4pm

This event is in partnership with Scrap Creative Reuse Arts Project and Leeds City College fashion and textiles course. The exhibition will include some final pieces and photographs of their work.

The Exhibition event is part of Sustainable Fashion Week, SCRAP is the Leeds Hub. The exhibition will explore sustainability and ethical concerns which is the most pressing issue facing the fashion and textiles industry.

During this project students investigated and created different ways to reduce, reuse, recycle, re-wear. They used innovative ideas to reuse waste items such as clothes, plastics, fabrics and textile products to create original 2D or 3D fashion, textile or art pieces.
This is a materials led project, considering the creative potential of what they have available through sampling and experimentation with techniques and processes, resulting in a resolved final 3D outcome or a unique 2D piece made from upcycled materials.

Wed 24th September to Sat 27th September, 10am to 4pm. Free, just turn up.

Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) 2024 is now in its fourth year, bringing together the community across the UK – and beyond – in an explosion of creative activity to help change fashion habits. The programme is community-led – with a wide variety of events and activities that will share knowledge and skills at a grassroots level. The theme for 2024 is ‘The Power of Repair’. We’ll be celebrating the importance of repairing our clothing to keep it alive and out of landfill.
